Finding the optimum setup for both driver and track!

The DynaEdge Sim (DES) software can be set to use either a Pacejka 2006 or MF-Tyre 6.1 tire model and up to about 55 vehicle parameters and outputs a yaw moment vs lateral acceleration plot and 6 calculated parameters. The plot gives the informed engineer an understanding of the race car’s entire performance envelope in one graph. The program can account for inputs like corner banking and asymmetric setups. It calculates precise values for the following:

  • Max trim lateral acceleration

  • Max untrim lateral acceleration

  • Stability index in straight line driving

  • Control index in straight line driving

  • Stability index at max trim

  • Roll Gradient

DES can account for parameters including:

  • Wheelbase

  • Track front and rear

  • Weight

  • Weight distribution longitudinally and laterally

  • Cross weight/wedge

  • CG height

  • Suspension and steering kinematics

  • Asymmetric kinematics and setups

  • Elastic and geometric weight transfer

  • Different front and rear tire sizes

  • Different tire spring rates

  • Automatically calculates and applies the drive force needed to maintain set speed against aerodynamic and tire drag

  • Can apply a set traction or braking force (in which case brake bias is accounted for)

  • Spring and anti-roll bar rates

  • Camber and toe compliance

  • Anti-dive

  • Aerodynamic downforce distribution and drag

An informed engineer or technician can leverage DES to not only make the race car faster and easier to drive, but also understand why. This makes it easier and quicker to find the winning edge!
